Sulcorebutia rauschii
Sulcorebutia rauschii is a striking, collectible cactus loved for its compact size, unusual texture, and eye-catching colors. Native to the high mountains of Bolivia, this species grows in tight clumps of small, round heads that look almost jewel-like. Each head is covered in geometric tubercles and tiny, neat spines that sit flat against the plant, giving it a sculpted, almost mosaic appearance.
One of its most attractive features is its coloration—Sulcorebutia rauschii often displays deep purples, greens, blues, or even metallic tones depending on light and temperature. Under bright sun or cooler nights, the purple tones become especially intense, making it a favorite among cactus collectors.
In spring, this cactus bursts into beautiful blooms, typically in shades of magenta, purple, or pink. The flowers are relatively large compared to the plant’s body, creating a stunning contrast.
Despite its exotic appearance, Sulcorebutia rauschii is easy to grow. It thrives in bright light, gritty well-draining soil, and careful watering—allowing the soil to dry out fully between waterings. It appreciates cooler winters with very minimal water, which helps promote healthy growth and flowering.
Compact, colorful, and uniquely sculptural, Sulcorebutia rauschii is a standout addition to any cactus collection and a favorite for growers who appreciate unusual, visually striking plants.

After placing your order, be sure to read the note included from me for helpful tips and tricks on propagating your new plant cutting!
🌱 Shipping & Plant Health:
While it's uncommon, cuttings can occasionally be affected during shipping. If you notice any issues with your order, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery so I can offer a refund, replacement, or coupon—whichever works best for you!
It's normal for cuttings to show some signs of stress from transit, such as wilting, yellowing, or slight browning. This doesn’t necessarily mean the cutting isn’t viable—the node is the most important part, and it’s often still healthy and ready to grow.
💬 Please reach out before leaving a review if anything seems off—I want you to be happy with your order and will do my best to make it right!
🌡️ Cold Weather Shipping:
If temperatures in your area are expected to drop below 50°F (10°C), I strongly recommend adding a heat pack to your order. You can find one in the shop or add it during checkout as a shipping upgrade. This helps protect your plant during transit and reduces the chance of cold-related damage.
